It's no surprise that the Elk Garden Mine is a hot spot for paranormal activity. There has been several accidents and fatalities at the mine over the decades, including the 1911 explosion. This large explosion occurred in Mine #20 while there were 23 miners inside cleaning up debris. Tragically, every single miner died in the explosion. Many believe the miner's spirits linger the coal mine, creating an overall sense of uneasiness while traveling through.
