VanMeter Farm - Real Petersburg Haunt

   
Located in Grant County, the Van Meter Farm is a hot spot for paranormal activity. George Van Meter is the ghost that is believed to be haunt this farm, after being attached by the Huron Indians while living in his isolated cabin. Van Meter battled the Indians in an effort to protect his family, and they were lucky enough to escape and warn the rest of the community. Unfortunately, George wasn't so lucky. A group of men from the town later went back to rescue him, but they found his headless body. Witnesses have reported seeing the headless ghost of George Van Meter walking around the farm, searching for his head.
